Investigator (Social Worker)– DENVER, COLORADO
The Colorado office of the Federal Public Defender for the Districts of Colorado and Wyoming seeks a case data management specialist to join our Denver office. The Office of the Public Defender operates under authority of the Criminal Justice Act (18 U.S.C. § 3006A) to represent individuals who are unable to afford counsel and are prosecuted in our federal courts. Job Description: The social worker collaborates with our attorneys and investigators to provide the best defense for our clients. Primary responsibilities include managing records requests for attorneys; maintaining familiarity with programs within the Bureau of Prisons and working with local detention facilities, pretrial services, probation, and community-based treatment providers; developing relationships with individuals in various resource agencies; building a comprehensive resource database to address client treatment/rehabilitative needs (e.g. available substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, housing options, and employment opportunities for our clients); assisting attorneys/investigators with connecting clients to community-based support systems; providing internal panel training on relevant topics; and performing other duties as assigned.
