Thank you again for your commitment and participation at the last IOYouth statewide task force meeting and for the thoughtfulness of the discussions. I also want to thank Senator Gardner and Representative Lee for their leadership and expert facilitation, and steering the group to come to consensus on policy recommendations to improve outcomes for youth in Colorado’s juvenile justice system. And, a big thank you to Adam for his guidance, perseverance, and leadership throughout the process.
Yesterday, Governor Hickenlooper released a press release on the success of the IOYouth statewide task force, and the recommendations that resulted from the task force’s deliberations. The press release also has a link to the final presentation with amended recommendations. And attached, you will also find a revised/amended version of just the policy options.
We will be in touch soon regarding next steps on the legislative drafting and review process. In the meantime, we plan on being on site in Colorado the week of December 3rd, for additional stakeholder meetings. If there are folks that you think we should meet with during that time to discuss the recommendations, and to get additional input, please let us know as soon as possible. Additionally, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out anytime.Best,NinaNina SalomonDeputy Program Director, Juvenile JusticeThe Council of State Governments Justice Center720 7th Street NWWashington, DC 20001240-482-8588http://csgjusticecenter.org Subscribe to receive our Youth News Alerts at: http://csgjusticecenter.org/subscribe
